A smartphone that makes coffee? It is not a joke anymore.
Soon, if you have no time to stop at a cafeteria and you fancy a coffee on the bus going to work, you may be able to rely on an item that you always have by your side: your mobile phone.
It’s called Mokase, designed by Italian engineers and developers: a smartphone case that contains a cartridge full of liquid coffee, which will get heated by your mobile battery, initiating the whole process through an app.
If Mokase tickles your fancy, you can pre-order the smartphone case and the coffee wafers here. It works with the iPhone 6, 6S, 7, and 7 Plus as well as a range of Samsung and Huawei phones. As of right now, the estimated shipping date is September 1st, 2017, and you can get it, black or white, for about $54.26, leaving a deposit of 50% now: they would contact you later for payment of the balance and shipping.
If you find intriguing the “funny tech kitchen gadgets” industry, here are some more examples:
-
- Smalt, the”smart” salt shaker that doubles as a Bluetooth speaker. An old press release from 2015 described Smalt as “a simple way to measure, track and control” your salt consumption. In the last two years, the producers decided to add to the salt-shaking experience, the benefit of having a speaker with coloured lights on our table.
- Cinnibird, instead, lets you drawn and write creative messages using natural materials on your food and beverages.
- Hiku, “the shopping button”, is the ultimate fridge magnet, a smart device that creates your grocery lists if you use it to scan barcodes, or speak into it for things that don’t have them. It adds items to an app that’s at the ready when you’re hitting the grocery store.
- If you need one more assistant in the kitchen, Hello Egg will help plan your meals — and order the food needed. You can then use it to watch how to prepare a dish or just listen to music or the news as you cook.
