Uniform Wares

Union Wares LogoIf you’re going for a Quartz-powered watch, you’re going to find the best on the
market come from one of two places: either Japan or Switzerland. So we were happy to see that one of our favourite British watch brands, Uniform Wares, has decided to incorporate high-calibre, Swiss-made ETA or Ronda premium quartz movements into their latest wrist-ready offering – and also shifted production to the country to take advantage of its panel of expertly-trained watchmakers.

Uniform Wares is a London-based brand known for men’s watches that blend classic British design with contemporary styling. The watches are pared down and minimal, characterised by thoughtful design, with mechanical components carefully selected from the best Swiss manufacturers.

Simple, precise functionality is just as important on the inside of a watch as the outside, which is why this minimalist Uniform Wares style hosts a Swiss-made mechanism for reliable accuracy and performance. The London-based brand’s superbly understated aesthetic will work from day to night, from smart to casual and from the office to the bar.

The rather appropriately titled Swiss Made selection is split into two new, improved lines: the C-Line (a classic face for more traditional guys) and the M-Line (a sleek, pared-down design for men who don’t care for fancy details). Within each of these you’ll find three separate riffs on the style, each designed to offer different forms and functions for whatever you need, from a simple time-teller to a bells-and-whistles twin register chronograph.

Better yet, this new range offers unprecedented customisation on the watchmaker’s new website (the only place to purchase these models) with various faces and straps to suit. Want a C41 with a black DLC black Milanese mesh strap and rose gold face? Done. Want a M47 with a blue rubber strap and brushed steel face? You’ve got it.  Whichever one you go for know that it’s going to be with you for a long time – you’ve got that Swiss expertise working away under the hood, after all.

The success of the Uniform Wares chronograph wristwatch lies in its ability to present a wealth of information in a sophisticated, streamlined way. Using a Swiss-made 23 jewel movement, one of our favourites, the 302 Series Chronograph Brushed-Steel Wristwatch, displays the time and houses a stopwatch and date window with attractive symmetry in a stainless steel case. Completed with a dark brown British leather strap, it is an investment in refined style and functionality.

From £240 – £980, this is an ideal Christmas gift that will be cherished beyond its years. Only available at uniformwares.com.
