Tumi

logotumi As you can imagine after almost half a century in production, the American company has a fairly mind-boggling array of different cases for almost every eventuality. Thankfully that’s what Tumi’s new Regent Street shop is all about. Staffed by an ultra-knowledgeable team, this is the place to see and test out the entire range. Set over two floors, you’ll find laptop bags, briefcases and backpacks downstairs and travel luggage on the first floor.

For a smart, sturdy briefcase, we suggest you invest in something by Tumi. Having crafted cases for just under 40 years, their products contain more patents than we’d care to list, but all you need to know is that all that research means you end up with one of the most robust bags on the market.

Originally introduced back in the early-Eighties, the Alpha range is cut from an incredibly hard-wearing (and bulletproof) ballistic nylon. This year the line has been re-released with over 30 improvements – not to mention a new range of bang-on trend colours like safety orange and grey, and, in the Alpha Bravo range, even camouflage.

Meanwhile, exquisite leathers, softly structured styles and Tumi’s legendary design come together in the classic Beacon Hill collection of business briefs and totes. Both timeless and modern, Beacon Hill cases are crafted from full-grain and naturally-textured vegetable-tanned leather. They feature smooth leather trim, gunmetal or brass hardware and twill linings. This slim brief lets you carry the business essentials in understated style. Interior has pockets for your iPad, phone, electronics, papers, files and accessories. The exterior offers front and back zip pockets. Leather top carry handles and removable shoulder strap.

Another one of our faves is the Astor collection. With supreme attention to detail, updated classic styling and organizational efficiency, the Astor collection brings a refined sophistication to business and travel accessories. This premium collection incorporates the finest leathers and fabrics with artisanal craftsmanship as a reflection of Tumi’s design heritage and ongoing dedication to absolute excellence. The Italian embossed leather flap brief is a slimmer, full feature case with dedicated space for your tablet, phone, files and business and electronic accessories. It features a secure tuck lock flap closure, exterior pockets, top carry handle and a removable shoulder strap. Also available in Black and white leather (online exclusive), Black signature ballistic nylon with Vachetta leather trim or Earl Grey texture coated canvas with leather trim.

If you want to take your business on the road, it’s easy with their range of versatile and compact wheeled cases. With compartment expanding compartments, organiser pockets and file dividers, these are the prime example of when extreme style meets unprecedented practicality. The Arrivé, for example, is meticulously appointed with the finest aesthetic and engineering features imaginable. It combines contemporary understatement with the ultimate functionality of Tumi’s advanced technology.

Still not convinced? Well if you haven’t booked up your big summer trip yet, there’s even more reason to get down to the new London flagship store. As a part of the launch, Tumi are sending two people on an all-expenses-paid, luxury trip of a lifetime across America. To find out more about #tumigoldenticket and how to enter, click here. But remember, even if you don’t win on your visit to the store, you’ll still leave with a superbly strong case that’s in it for the long-haul.

Tumi is now open at 211 Regent Street, London, W1.
