After our article about How to avoid the most common men’s fashion mistakes, here are some things that female professionals should never wear:
- Uggs. No matter how cold it is outside, don’t come into the office wearing Uggs. Replace them with: Wear leather boots instead: if you don’t want to wear heels, flat boots like can actually be stylish.
- Fanny packs went out of style way back in the 80s and in a professional environment, they’d show you have no idea of what fashion is. Replace them with: obviously, a handbag, clutch, satchel, tote, even a briefcase.
- Same, overdoing with sequins at the office will make you look cheap, out of touch and unprofessional. Let your accessories do the talking. Wear your bling on a watch, earrings or statement necklace instead of on your shirt.
- Same again: too much animal print in our outfit is another big fashion mistake. If you choose to wear a piece with this print, make sure it’s only one (possibly small) item of your outfit. Only shoes, or only your bag, etc.
- Leggings and yoga (or even leather) pants are never appropriate for the office, not under a skirt and especially not worn alone as pants! Tights – both opaque and sheer – provide the same coverage as leggings, with a polished look.
You should also avoid:
- Visible underwear.
- Too tight clothes.
- Eveningwear during the day.
- Tracksuits.
- Childish footwear.
- Denim over denim.
