Rake

rakeSQA seducer of all things beautiful, the rake is alert to the power of a discreet gesture. Multi-layered, textured and enigmatic he knows that taste is indefinable, an attitude, a state of mind. A believer in timeless style, not a follower of fashion, he never tries too hard, knowing that true elegance is effortless. And his lifestyle reflects this.

Constructed using only the finest cloths, this is flexible luxury: each piece is designed as a separate and can be worn with its counterpart as a suit or individually with any other item found in a modern man’s wardrobe. This philosophy extends between collections, which are designed to work in harmony, ensuring that the garments can be interchanged as part of a genuinely adaptable concept. It’s a continuity of style: past, present and future, a look that is updated, but never out-dated, a look fit for a rake.

Rake is designed for men who appreciate refined elegance and who move through life “with an inner confidence and purpose”.

Rake’s bespoke suits are created using specially created paper patterns cut to the unique measurements of the individual customer. To ensure that all bespoke customers get exactly the suit they want, they offer an in-depth consultation with the design team where they offer guidance on fabric choice and cut, and a number of fittings to ensure that all garments sit precisely as intended.

An extension of the ready-to-wear collection, the made-to-measure service offers customers greater freedom to individualise rake pieces. Whether its fabric choice or finishing, structured or unstructured, made-to-measure allows you to choose the style of suit you want from the shape of the shoulder to smallest details.

Luxury menswear is offered online and in store, of which was only opened last year after growing “dramatically” since it launched.

The brand itself s just four years old, having launched in 2009 by creative director Clive Darby.A statement from rake said the launch of the store was “symptomatic of the brand’s dramatic growth in the past four years”.

The 1,000 sq ft store is located at 77 duke street, Mayfair, London and houses current ready-to-wear collections alongside its bespoke and made-to-measure appointments, available on request.

Rake was one of the first brands to show at London collections: men and has an ethos to provide “flexible luxury” garments.

Their latest collection offers a typically roguish panache. Inspired by the style and decadence of formula 1 drivers of yesteryear, the collection showcases the brand’s penchant for 1970s-inspired insouciance.

This chic checked suit screams seventies style, executed to summer perfection, by keeping this wool number light both in colour and in weight. Better yet, they’ve left out the full-lining to let the air circulate when it gets too hot – perfect for style and comfort this season.
