Men: How to Rock Monochrome

monochrome300Possibly one of the easiest and most effective style choices any man can make it to strip away the colour and embrace the classic black/white look. However, as with all styles, it’s not necessarily what you wear, but how you wear it, that defines your status as a fashionable man.

Below we’ve listed the three most likely style scenarios that you may wish to turn to mono:

Around the office charcoal300

Rather than sticking with the typical jet black suit, remember to experiment with various shades of the bold and to-the-point colour. Don’t be afraid of charcoal or its darker cousins, these colours can prove distant enough from jet black that your general wear will feel far less dull and work oriented. Avoid skinny fits but venture into the realms of slim cut and add a burst of light to your look with the classic white formal shirt paired with a black tie.

If you’re not entirely sure about the monochrome style, throwing in a red or cerulean tie can add enough colour to your look while keeping the general sleek feel of typical monochrome.

Smart casualblazer300

Here’s where bringing grey into the mix can really enhance your general look. Aim for black and white threads that can’t be defined as smart nor casual, on a cold day a pair of grey gloves and scarf will keep your style intact. Black jeans (slim) paired with a white crew neck t shirt, black sneakers and blazer/jacket will make for the perfect out-and-about style – Anyone that looks at you will know you’re a successful guy that knows how to relax, isn’t that all you need?

Again, add in flashes of red or dark blues if you feel the need for some colour in your outfit, avoid the coloured socks but a stylish red banded watch will do the job.

Netflix days

sun-wash-zip-hoodie-heather-grey300Your last concern when you’ve got a day to yourself and want to sit, relax and catch up on a series you’ve already watched five times, is fashion. With this said, you never know who could come to the door or you may simply want to feel good about yourself in your own company, nothing wrong with that!

Cotton sweatshirts, tapered joggers, lightweight cotton shorts and just anything that gives you a bit of room. There’s no right or wrong to styling yourself for yourself, even a white t-shirt and black joggers could be all you need to feel comfortable. How far you go with your sitting-at-home look is entirely up to you, but monochrome is a great choice if you don’t feel like making too much effort.

And there you have it, if you’re feeling plain and simple but want to dress to impress, monochrome is your friend. Keep it black and white but if you want to add in the burst of colour or a bit of grey be my guest.

Going mono is one of my personal style choices, it’s an easy way to style yourself without feeling like you need to think too much about it, and that will always be good with me.
