Kingsman: The Secret Service isn’t just a movie that reinvigorates the spy genre; it also injects new life into the classic British gentleman’s wardrobe. “The suit is a modern gentleman’s armour. And the Kingsman agents are the new knights.”– Galahad
If you’re like us, halfway through the Kingsman: The Secret Service and you started wondering who made Colin Firth’s mean DB suits. Were they Tom Ford? Ralph? Some Savile Row house we haven’t heard of?
Turns out, they’re custom (of course), original creations thought up by the film’s director, Matthew Vaughn, and costume designer Arianne Phillips. And thanks to a Mr Porter team-up, those suits and everything else you’ll see on the big screen can be yours come September. Vaughn and Phillips worked with Mr P buying director Toby Bateman to piece together a full Kingsman menswear line crafted by a dream team of British heritage brands to create a new menswear label that refreshes that wardrobe.
The result is a 60-piece collection that includes suits, watches, ties, umbrellas, briefcases and more, and lives both on and off the big screen.
Think Mackintosh for coats, Turnbull & Asser for shirts, Drakes for silk accessories and so on. Shoes (George Cleverley), suits (by the same mills the big guys use), hell, even umbrellas (courtesy of Swaine Adeney Brigg) are being made. And to be clear, this isn’t some one-off promotional collaboration–every piece made will carry a Kingsman label and a second, Spring ’15 lineup is already in the works.
Immaculately crafted in England using wool from esteemed British cloth house Dormeuile, this Kingsman blazer typifies the line’s uncompromising luxury. The dashing check, high armholes and trim silhouette exudes timeless elegance. Keep your look modern by wearing it over a cashmere cardigan and add a little flair with a silk pocket square. This item is small to size, take the next size up.
Thomas Brigg & Sons, now a part of Swaine Adeney Brigg, have been creating umbrellas since the 19th century, supplying to prime ministers, royalty and now, the Kingsman. This style, carried by Mr Colin Firth in the film, has a polished chestnut handle, solid wooden shaft, wide black canopy and a gold-plated cover that’s discreetly embossed with the ‘K’ logo. It’s the easier way to stay stylishly shielded from downpours.
The Bremont ‘World Timer’ automatic chronograph is an impressively intricate watch, and yet this utilitarian piece doesn’t compromise on sophistication. Originally created for C17 pilots, no less than 24 time zones can be read off the internal rotating bezel and the custom-modified automatic chronograph movement ensures accuracy. Crafted for Kingsman, this piece comes in exquisite rose gold with a crocodile-embossed leather strap and is apt for a global traveller who demands reliable quality, ageless elegance and high-performance.
From cufflinks and fountain pens, to slippers and suitcases, no stone has been left unturned. Everything you need to become the modern gentleman has been designed exclusively for this new brand only available from Mr Porter
