It’s that glorious time of year again, folks: iPhone release time! The iPhone™ 6S and 6S Plus have landed, and the tech world is very excited. Here, we summarise the best of the new features this handsome piece of technology has to offer.
Instant gratification is ridiculously important to our generation. Maybe this deems us the lazy generation, but we don’t care; as long as we have everything we want, right when we want it. Apple™ created the 6S with this notion in mind, giving us a phone that appeases our
impatient needs.
3D Touch
No longer do you have to waste time clicking through different screens to get to the function you need. If you press firmly on an app and hold down, you get a Quick Actions menu that takes you directly to your task. All phone addicts know the pain and frustration of not being able to pull out your camera quickly enough to capture a moment before it has passed. With 3D Touch, you can go straight to the mode you want without having to open the camera app, faff around swiping from side to side to change the configuration, flipping the camera around, etc. There it is, our instant-gratification obsessions are immediately indulged.
Super Speed
Another huge change that comes with the 6S is the performance speed. Apple has implanted something called an A9 chip. Without going into long techy details, it’s basically a chip that makes your phone super-dooper fast. This is the type of technology that powers desktop computers; so by packing it into a hand-sized device, you get a turbo-charged phone. The new iPhone also has 4G LTE and Wi-Fi speeds up to twice as fast as before.
Hidden Trackpad
The addition of 3D Touch has enabled the ability to have a hidden trackpad. Press and
hold the keyboard, and voila: it turns into a trackpad. Slide your finger around to control
the cursor, or press more firmly to highlight words. The magnifying glass has always typically been a little too fiddly. This tool is especially useful for correcting those inevitable typos we always make but couldn’t be bothered to go back and fix before.
Camera Quality
Boasting a whopping 12-megapixel rear camera and a five-megapixel front camera, your photos can now rival those of the pros. The 6S also has 4K video recording capability—although, this may be a little too advanced for many of us, as there are only a few ways to view 4K.
Nice Little Extras
Rose gold. That’s right, you can now get a pink iPhone. It’s hard to say why we care so much about the colour of our phones, as we usually cover them up with a case anyway; but a new colour is always exciting nonetheless.
More memory. Enough said. Nobody can find fault with more memory space.*
*If you can find fault with this, then you shouldn’t be allowed to have an iPhone anyway.
