Zuma’s little sister, Roka, is a contemporary Japanese restaurant within Canary Wharf, offering surroundings which are elegant, relaxed and inviting, set within floor-to-ceiling glass walls enjoying stunning views of Canada Square.
The heart of the restaurant is the robatayaki, a contemporary Japanese-style barbecue prepared on the Robata Grill which sits centrally for all to see. You can witness the chefs freshly preparing and cooking up your meals offering behind-the-scenes access to the previously unsighted.
The restaurant offers a separate bar area with a range of cocktails, beer and wine, as well as a selection of Roka’s specialist Schochu infusions which play a major role in the drink combinations as well as decorating the surrounds.
Roka also has a terrace providing you with another dimension to the dining experience offering guests to enjoy the full dining adventures outside.
The staff here are all extremely welcoming, polite and attentive, serving up gorgeous tapas-sized dishes so you can try a little bit of everything. Roka has a wide range of interesting and consistently impressive dishes, with the beautiful presentation being of significant precedence, without sacrificing the quality of taste.
The menu is innovative and modern giving a great twist on authentic Japanese cuisine. Particular highlights include the flavoursome scallop dish which was brilliantly executed, while the grilled black cod and the lamb cutlet dishes were tender, delicate and cooked to utter perfection. The food is sophisticated and simple offering stunning, unusual ingredients to make every dish an instant favourite.
You may be tempted to try a little bit of it all, but make sure to save some room at the end for pudding; the desserts are truly divine. The chocolate pudding with green tea, crunchy jivara, and pear ice-cream is to die for!
