Zetter Townhous is one of the most beautiful bars in London. The place is bursting with character and eccentricity.
Accessed through a discreet entrance on St John’s Square, the lounge within is a sumptuous and intriguing place. With an open fire crackling in the grate and a bartender fixing your favourite drink it feels like private residence of a most beloved, eccentric and indulgent great aunt. The décor is fun and homely; it’s kitsch and cute without trying too hard – the perfect place to spend your Sunday afternoons.
The cocktail list is of fittingly high quality – not surprising since it was devised by Tony Conigliaro (of 69 Colebrooke Row). Tony Conigliaro has earned a reputation for his ground-breaking approach to cocktail making and the drinking experience. The unique recipes that Tony has created for The Zetter Townhouse pay homage to the area’s distilling heritage. Old recipes for tinctures, bitters and herbal remedies have inspired not only the cocktails but also the homemade cordials and infusions that sit behind the apothecary style counter.
Among the house cocktails, check out the Köln martini, the Somerset sour, and the jasmine tea gimlet for real taste sensations.
Award winning chef, Bruno Loubet has created a menu that compliments Tony’s cocktails and demonstrates how bar food can be a reason to travel. The menu comprises small plates that can be easily shared as well supper bowls of more hearty fare that accompany a good book just as well!
Bistrot Bruno Loubet has enjoyed rave reviews and numerous awards (named 3rd Best Restaurant in the UK at National Restaurant Awards 2010) and is not to be missed when staying at The Zetter Hotel & Townhouse. Bistrot Bruno Loubet has a distinctive style of modern bistrot food using classical techniques to produce an exciting combination of hearty regional food, contemporary dishes and reinterpreted classics. A delicate use of spice, and Asian and North African ingredients help create his unique take on modern bistrot food.
Not only has Bruno put together the menus at The Zetter Townhouse, creating an alternative dining experience in the lounge for Zetter guests he has also created a variety of Private dining menus for those hiring The Dining Room and Games Room privately.
It is worth noting that they only allow a limited number of table reservations so it’s advisable to book early.
