The Forge

TemplateThe folks at Forge have come up with a good phrase for the new style of City bar-restaurant – “industrial opulence”. A wonderland of industrial chic, Forge is mighty good looking.

Showcasing a brooding palate of muted tones against a backdrop of exposed brickwork, distressed panelling, low lighting and brass fittings which combine to create a New York ambience. There’s great attention to detail as well, with tiled flooring and antique furniture – a major improvement on Abacus, where the most remarkable thing about the floor was how sticky it was. Clubbing at Forge is an altogether more civilised experience. Once you’ve finished eating in the lively restaurant, head downstairs to grab a drink and a table where you can party late into the night.

Summer 2014 saw the grand opening of Forge as a space for the work weary to chow down before tactically executing that well-oiled city charm in the downstairs club room.

Vast and impressive, the club area boasts a floating central bar area, lined with plush leather booths and extending itself into a sleek VIP and private hire space.

Forge delivers an extensive liquid offering – there is no such thing as thirsty at this City of London bar. Cocktails range frm £8.50 to £30 and don’t have any fancy tongue-in-cheek names, just your bog standard number formats.

If you’re looking for something refreshing and light go for No. 35 – Ketel One Vodka, Martini Bianco, cucumber juice, elderflower cordial, lemon juice and mint. It’s a nice pick-me-up after a hefty meal.

If you’re looking for more a sweet affair, No 72 is the one for you. With Disaronno Amaretto, Benedictine, Jameson’s, sugar, espresso and milk this is an opulent treat for a cosy Sunday evening or a great pick-me-up for when you need an extra hit in the wee hours.

Or if you want to splash the cash go for No. 93. A mixture of Bulleit Bourbon, rosé wine, pink grapefruit liqueur, lemon juice, pink grapefruit juice, passion fruit syrup and soda water, this will tantalise your taste buds and get your juices flowing!

All in all, this is a home for those who wish to succeed the madness of the office with a new breed of euphoria – one of a steady, building excitement, aroused senses and industrial opulence…

That is to say: Work hard – Play hard.
