Why enrol in the Fitch Learning IMC (Investment Management Certificate)?

As a first step towards a career in the investment profession, the Fitch Learning IMC is an excellent introduction. It is well recognized within the industry as an indication of a thorough understanding and knowledge of investment management. It is also a stepping stone to global professional qualifications, such as the CFA program. Upon completion of the Fitch Learning IMC (Investment Management Certificate), you have the right to become a member of the CFA Society of the UK and apply to use the designatory letters IMC.

What’s on the Fitch Learning IMC syllabus?

The Fitch Learning IMC is split into two units:

  1. Investment Environment – covering topics including the regulatory environment, markets, taxation and client objectives
  2. Investment Practice – covering topics including financial instruments, portfolio management, accounting, economics and statistics

How much work is required?

It is recommended that you spend 80 hours of study on Investment Environment and 120 hours of study on Investment Practice.

When are the exams?
Each unit is examined by multiple choice and gap fill questions. The exam is administered via computer-based testing and exams run throughout the year.

You need to have sat both units of the IMC within a two year period since this is the maximum time recognised by the FCA for the qualification to be relevant.

The examining body is the CFA Society United Kingdom – CFA UK. The exam registration fee is paid through them and they put you in touch with a testing centre called Pearson Vue. So you simply find a test centre close to you and book a conveniently available time slot.

When you register for the course, you will be sent joining instructions by email and a link to the portal, your username and password to access the online content. You will have access to the online portal for as long as you require it. The syllabus may be updated periodically, but your portal will update with any changes.

If you are attending a classroom course, Fitch Learning will keep a track of your attendance. If you are coming to a class in the London training centre (which is in The Corn Exchange,
55 Mark Lane, London EC3R 7NE – but please check the Joining Instructions email sent to you regarding the location of your course because not all the training is held in that training centre.), you will be requested to sign in using our electronic registration screens outside the classroom.
The courses usually run from 9 am to 5 pm, but your booking details will be confirmed in the joining instructions email you receive upon registration.

At this link you can take the IMC Maths Refresher test, to see if your mathematics skills are sharp enough for taking the Fitch Learning IMC (Investment Management Certificate): a brief test of ten questions which uses a range of IMC standard statistical and mathematical concepts.
