For years, the Geneva Motor Show has been the place to debut the most amazing cars. This year we’ve been treated to a new Bugatti, but what are the best cars you can afford right now that have been announced this year?
There’s a clear trend leaning towards SUVs for the consumer market this year, with the Q2, Azteca, and Levante all being paraded as high quality affordable cars. We all want to jump straight into a Bugatti, but we’ve got to be realistic while we climb the career ladder.
Audi Q2 – £22,000
Extending its Q range, Audi have introduced the smallest crossover to date. Audi hope it will introduce a youthful buzz into its range when the Q2 is released during the second half of 2016. It features the classic and iconic Audi grill, but also features sharp and bold lines throughout. At 22k it will be one of the cheaper cars in the Audi range.
Volvo V90 – £33,000
Synonymous with the estate car, Vovlo’s new V90 has the classic Volvo look with a great modern twist. It not only looks modern but it has the technology to go with it – V90 owners will open their new car with a smartphone app, waving goodbye to the physical key unless requested. Initially, the UK will have access to the D4 and D5 Volvo diesel engines, with a petrol version become available at a later date.
Maserati Levante – £55,000
Maserati have become the latest high-performance/sports car manufacturer to enter the SUV market, introducing it’s new model the Levante. It will go head-to-head with the Porsche Cayenne and Range Rover Sport. But its biggest rival in the UK market will be the Jaguar F-Pace, as Maserati will only release the 270bhp diesel model in the UK. See this beauty as the ultimate reward for your outstanding work.
Seat Azteca – £18,000
One of the cheaper cars to be announced at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, the Azteca offers a cheaper alternative in SUV market – it will be the first of three SUVs from Seat. It won’t be as powerful as traditional SUVs, with the lowest engine being a 1.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 114bhp. It’s both economic and very affordable, surely to become a favourite. Definitely expect bigger and bolder models from Seat in the near future.
Porsche 718 Boxter – £42,000
For a long time the Boxter easily stood out from its brothers and sisters, aesthetically it just didn’t look as premium as the 911 or the Cayman, but the 718 looks fantastic. Sleek and modern, the 718 Boxter looks as good as any sports car, and it seems to continue under the bonnet. The 718 has 35bhp more than its predecessor boasting 296bhp, which will allow it to reach 60mph in just 4.2 seconds.
