The CISI Masters in Wealth Management
Follow a progressive study route consistent with career paths in the financial services industry with The Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment. New entrants to the industry choose to start with Fundamentals of Financial Services or the Foundation Qualification – Introduction to Investment, before selecting a wealth management study pathway most suitable for their relevant jurisdiction.
In the Foundation Level of the CISI Masters in Wealth Management, you will have:
- The CISI Level 2 Award in “Fundamentals of Financial Services” is an important first step in developing the essential basic knowledge required for working in financial services. You will learn about the industry and commonly used financial products, such as shares, bonds and insurance and it will provide you with an understanding of financial terminology.
It is ideally suited to new or junior employees working in financial services. It is also appropriate for school leavers who are considering a career in finance. Fundamentals of Financial Services is an Ofqual regulated qualification and is recognised as a level 2 Award on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF). Success in this qualification carries with it 10 RQF credits. On the European Qualifications Framework, this equates to a level 3 qualification.
In the Qualification Level of the CISI Masters in Wealth Management, you will have:
- The CISI Level 3 Award for “Introduction to Investment” offers a comprehensive introduction to the financial services industry, with a specific focus on investments. It is the foundation exam for many higher level CISI qualifications. The qualification covers key financial principles and products in depth including assets and markets, equities, bonds, derivatives and investment funds. It explores the broader economic environment in which the financial services industry operates and looks at how economic activity is determined and managed in different economic and political systems. The qualification offers the first introduction to financial services regulation and ensures candidates are provided with an understanding of ethical behaviour and acting with integrity. It is suitable for new entrants to the industry and staff who are beginning their career in financial services. The broad topics covered to make the qualification suitable for all staff, not just those responsible for making investment decisions, including administration, finance and accounting, IT, customer services, sales and marketing and HR and training. The International Introduction to Investment focuses on international markets.
- The CISI Level 4 Investment Advice Diploma was specifically developed to comply with the examination standards of the RDR and it appears on the FCA’s Appropriate Qualification tables. It provides a sound grounding in UK financial services and consumer relationships, macroeconomic environment, settlement, safe custody and prime brokerage, exchange-traded futures and options and financial protection. The IAD is suitable for practitioners advising and/or dealing in Securities or Derivatives, or advising on Retail Investment Products and Friendly Society Tax-Exempt Policies and/or Managing Investments.
- The CISI Level 4 “International Certificate in Advanced Wealth Management” explores the wide range of assets and investment products available in the market at an advanced level. You will gain the knowledge to assess a client’s current financial position, make suitable investment recommendations, and respond appropriately to the changing needs of the client and circumstances of the market. It covers the macroeconomic context of investment advice and planning, the main asset classes, the main investment products, identification, measurement and assessment of investment risks and returns, portfolio planning, construction, review and maintenance and the provision of investment advice including the ability to analyse clients’ circumstances and apply suitable investment product recommendations to meet client-led objectives. The International Certificate in Advanced Wealth Management is suitable for international candidates working in private banking and wealth management roles. It is the next step after the level 3 International Certificate in Wealth & Investment Management or the International Certificate in Wealth Management (discontinued in 2014).
In the Professional Level of the CISI Masters in Wealth Management, you will have the
- The CISI Level 6 Certificate in “Private Client Investment Advice & Management” (PCIAM) enables practitioners to demonstrate their broad understanding of the principles of private client investment advice, within the context of the current regulatory environment. You will be able to structure a suitable portfolio, selecting from a range of financial products, which meets client objectives and is based on the key principles of know your customer. You will also be able to undertake regular portfolio reviews and evaluations to ensure continued adherence to client objectives. PCIAM is suitable for existing authorised advisers qualified at level 4.
- The CISI Level 7 Diploma in Wealth Management is a postgraduate level specialist qualification which encompasses the breadth of knowledge needed to provide the highest quality service to clients. It is a progressive qualification comprised of three units, Financial Markets, Portfolio Construction Theory and Applied Wealth Management. It provides a sound grounding in economics and interpretation of economic statistics, financial statements, investment analysis, portfolio construction and applied wealth management.
