The iTie: Futuristic neckwear that can change its pattern at the touch of a button.
If you’re no good at picking a tie to match your outfit, a new futuristic menswear gadget could be just for you. Dubbed the iTie, it is a colour-changing neck accessory for fashion-conscious men tired of sifting through tie racks without a clue what to pick.
The techy tie would be fully interactive and be able to change pattern or colour at the touch of a button – meaning you need only buy one for a plethora of looks.
The accessory is made with a flexible screen that can link up with IOS apps such as the ones found on an iPad or iPhone.
Owners of the tie could download a special app which would then display a different fabric or design every time it was ‘swiped’.
And it would have plenty of other practical uses too. The gizmo would also be able to make phone calls, send texts, and let the wearer have Skype conversations.
It would be built with a camera at the bottom and also one at the top where it is fastened to create two webcam views.
The concept for the accessory, which is not yet available to buy, has been created by Tomislav Zvonaric, 33, a graphic designer from Zagreb in Croatia.
Tomislav said: ‘The whole concept for the iTie came from wearable fashion.
‘I thought it would be a cool idea to have a tie that could have interchangable patterns or colours and be used as a screen for an IOS device.
‘It could be great for a businessman or a guy who is interested in fashion.
‘The whole bottom part of the tie is a screen that displays apps like an iPhone or iPad, only it would be arranged to fit the shape of the tie.
‘From there, people could make Skype calls, send texts, make phone calls, and even use the camera at the bottom and the top.
‘The tie would also have an app so that people could change the pattern or colour of it, meaning men just need to have one tie that suits
all occasions.
‘The iTie is just a concept at the moment but in the future it would be fantastic to have the opportunity to develop something like this.’
Ties have remained virtually the same since their inception and the iTie ushers in the next evolution of the cravat.
However, there is already a product outon the market named the iTie – “the only tie in the World that stays in perfect position and features a concealed pocket for your iPod, business cards, credit cards and loose change. The iTie attaches to the user’s dress shirt, keeping the entire tie in perfect place. Invented and patented by Joseph Sale in 2009.
