The Sony Smartwatch is a cool and attractive gadget fit for James Bond himself.
Big name brands such as Apple, Samsung and Google are rumoured to be making their smart phones into smart watches, however, Sony already has one ready to buy and enjoy.
The Sony SmartWatch provides you with a small Android device that you can strap around your wrist. Use it for phone calls, emails, listening to music, or simply to tell the time. It’s a discreet way to keep you updated with all the social media whilst keeping your hands free. The SmartWatch combines practicality with style merging technology with fashion. The design is sleek with rounded edges, silver metal detailing, and a glossy back fascia. It’s lightweight and the rubber wristband comes in a range of colours. You don’t have to wear the Smart Watch on your wrist, though. It’s got a clip on the rear so you can attach it to whatever you want. You can clip it onto the supplied wristband or use the adapter to use your own strap.
The ultra-responsive 1.3in touch screen is easy to navigate around, and offers you the chance to customise how you want it to look.
Beyond telling the time, the SmartWatch can give various notifications and perform different tasks depending on what features you want to use. It can notify you when you have text messages or phone calls, display Twitter feeds, and give you weather updates, while the clever Bluetooth wireless technology frees more than your hands – it lets your devices talk to each other without tangles, across ranges of up to 10 metres.
It’s worth noting that you don’t have to have a Sony smartphone for the the SmartWatch, as the device is compatible with most Android handsets. You do however have to sync it up to a phone for it to work but this takes little time and is very easy.
The phone and text messaging notification apps are very helpful. If you regularly miss important business calls because you didn’t hear your phone ring, this watch will vibrate on your wrist making it impossible to miss important telephone meetings.
Of particular note is the VFinder, which allows you to use the phone’s camera as a live video feed to the watch. You can’t get more James Bond than that now can you?
Unlike ‘normal’ watches, the SmartWatch will require regular charging to stabilise the battery life. Heavy usage will mean it lasts a day and low usage will give you up to a week.
Nonetheless, this ultra-sleek, ultra-slim Android remote was designed to impress, and it certainly does. From £79.00 this little device is a gadget-lover’s dream companion.
