Nokia Lumia 925

Nokia LogoAt one point, everyone owned a Nokia, it was the be all and end all. Creative cases and funky ring tones, there wasn’t much more we thought we needed from a phone. Then them smart ones creeped up and took hold leaving poor little Nokia’s nowhere to be seen.

Not for much longer. Nokia is back and is bigger than ever. The Nokia 925 is the best Windows Phone yet.

It’s sleek, light and cool with a light aluminium frame and an attractive, stylish design. The look and feel is of exceptional quality and the build quality is superb. It’s comfortable to hold and use without being too hefty or too weighty.

The camera on this device is outstanding. With 8.7 megapixels and optical image stabilisation, it captures a high-level of detail without noisemaking it the best camera phones on the market.

The photo’s it produces are of high quality and, despite the resolution not being full HD, the screen is excellent with a high resolution, good colour reproduction and performs well in sunlight. The Lumia 925 comes preloaded with the company’s Smart Camera app. It’s a capture and edit tool that takes 10 images in burst mode and then allows you to select the best individual shot combine multiple images and/or fade selected images and select one or more items in your shot and blur everything else. The app also allows you to change faces, and remove objects from photos. There’s also panorama lens to capture panorama shots, a cinemagraph mode that captures movement and turns still shots into a GIF file and a Glam Me lens that enhances selfies captured with the front-facing camera.

Another positive about this phone is that the touch screen is responsive and can even be used when you’re wearing gloves.

The apps run smoothly and the overall software is fast and seamless. However, despite Nokia’s abilities, the lack of popular third-party apps which are available on iOS and Android devices may deter customers from buying a Windows Phone.

The battery life is good compared to other 4G phones, and you have the option of wireless charging by just clipping a cover to the back of the phone.

All in all, an impressive phone and a real contender to entirely replace your day-to-day camera.
