In this article, we’d like to give you some advice on what to look for when buying a men’s briefcase, which is among the top accessories you need as a businessman. As such, it’s of the utmost importance that you choose well, as a good briefcase will last over time, and will make you stand out from the crowd.
Material and durability:
First and foremost, it’s absolutely vital that your briefcase is made of a high quality material, that will ensure it will last for many seasons. The most common material is leather. It’s 
flexible and is currently accepted by most as luxury and a popular classic. Yet, it has the disadvantage of not being the best waterproof material available.
Indeed, synthetic materials (nylon and polyester) are waterproof, and more resistant to chemical elements, besides being cheaper. Also, synthetic briefcases are more versatile than leather ones, as they can be used for different occasions besides work. Think of cocktails, or going on a casual meeting.

Colour:
The three most popular colours are black, brown and tan. To you the choice, but here are a few factors to consider.
Do you want to be noticed? In this case, go for brown, as black is more neutral. Also, brown leather will develop an age patina over time which can look nicely vintage.
Yet, black goes well with any colour you’re wearing, so if this is an issue, choose black over brown, as it’s safer.
If in doubt, the best advice we can give you is getting two, a black and a brown one, depending on what you decide to wear. You’ll just have to remember to put in all your essentials when you switch bags but aside from this we don’t see any other disadvantages. Also, you won’t be in a rush to get a new bag in case something happens to one of them, as you’ll have a backup.
More in general, black and brown are mostly used in a professional environment, tan and lighter colours are more casual and relaxed. A tip to consider: avoid getting a briefcase which has more than two colours on the outside, as it can be seen as a little extravagant.
Compartments and space
The more compartments you’ve got within your briefcase, the higher organized you’ll be with all your documents. This doesn’t obviously mean you should get a briefcase with 10 compartments, as you always want to travel light and comfy, and have all your things with you in seconds. As a rule of thumb, we suggest getting a briefcase with 3 compartments, one for documents, one for stationery and ideally one for your laptop.
