Summer is finally here! Have you remembered to update your wardrobe accordingly, or are you still hanging around in the fur slippers and fleece pajama?
While we don’t want to interfere with your habits as a house cat, it’s probably a good idea to throw some suggestions about how to get dressed for the office in the summer season your way.We all know there’s a thin line between looking casual and looking like you’re ready for the beach, so here are a few ideas:
1 Relax a little
Everyone gets a little bit more casual during the summer months, even your boss. Wearing a t-shirt or lighter shirt and jeans is fine; we suggest cottons and linens for extra freshness on your skin. Have you guys considered wearing khaki instead of the usual dark colors? Also, pastel colors work really well for ladies, and will enhance your skin… especially if you’ve been working on the tan!
… But don’t relax too much
Shorts and flip flops are never appropriate in the office, no matter how hot it is out there. To let your feet breathe we suggest wearing light fabric sneakers or loafers – Tommy Hilfiger make a few you should really check out on here, or perhaps even sandals (ladies only, sorry guys).
It’s also a good idea for ladies to keep a few dresses in your wardrobe – as long as they’re not too short or reveal too much skin – these are welcome in any office environment. If you respect the rule of thumb of ‘don’t overdo it’, you’ll be fine.
2 Change your accessories too
Guys, it’s never a good idea to wear the same tie you’ve been wearing all winter with your new khaki shirt, or that leather belt you love so much with a pair of light fabric jeans – these will look completely out of place. Accessories are always the last ones to go in favour of something new, we know that. Still, revitalizing your look will mean saying goodbye to your winter accessories… at least until the next season.
For ladies, how about getting a couple of colorful light fabric bags? They will instantly give a different air about you. Anything ‘LEATHER’ is definitely a no-no during the summer, both for men and women, it just creates sensation of stickiness to your skin and is generally quite heavy. Besides, going leather-free is also going cruelty-free, so you might want to consider it for the long term too.
3 Put the dark colors away
We will never get tired of repeating this. Black has little place in the summer, the most obvious reason being that of attracting the heat. If you don’t like the idea of letting the sun roast you and producing sweat from some of the most unwanted places, stay away! If you convert to light colors, your sweat will reduce accordingly and you’ll have a much better day. Besides, wearing light colors will also ease off seriousness, making you look lively, bright and glowing. Just priceless.
