To no surprise, Eurovision 2016 was another political masterpiece and showed that you don’t necessarily need to be a good singer to win the competition – who’d have thought?
Results aside, we’re interested in fashion and, despite most of the clothes on display being simply unviable for everyday life, there were a few looks throughout the night that can inspire your office wardrobe. So what are they and how likely will you see them throughout your office in the coming months?
Monochrome

As we recently wrote, monochrome is in right now – Justin Timberlake proved us right. Is JT reading this very website? Perhaps. The clear winner of the night with mammoth promo is Timberlake and his team – which paid off instantly – with every winner, replicating everything they do is a common occurrence.
While a black dinner jacket and trainers don’t work together in a professional environment, taking inspiration from JT’s setup is something we should all be doing.

Black leather jackets

I don’t think anyone quite knows where this came from, but an absolute mass of acts were sporting the black leather jacket, including Joe and Jake, the UK’s annual disappointment. We can’t foresee this one taking inspiration from Eurovision, especially with the summer fast approaching.
With that said, should your office host a Right Said Fred party in the coming days/months, look to the Eurovision for inspiration and stick on the black jacket.

The cool-casual

There’s no denying this understated look was one of the fashion choices more likely to inspire the Eurovision-watching business person. The loosely fitting plain t-shirt, jacket and jeans combination make for a superb smart-casual, ‘I’m off for drinks with an old client’ look.
Whether you’ll see this in an around the office depends on what’s going on, if you’re off for a team building day and don’t require your usual business attire, don’t be too shocked to see this simple classic being paraded by most of your male colleagues.

Wearable Tech

Poli Genova came dressed as the light-up version of every ridiculous-costumed evil children TV character to ever exist. Strangely enough though, this is probably one of the most likely future clothing choices. The whole ‘wearable tech’ concept has been floating around for some time now, but it is genuinely getting closer to the typical wardrobe.
Granted, Poli’s walking lighthouse won’t be a common dress you see around the office, but seeing lights on clothes isn’t farfetched in the slightest – in fact, I’d put money that you’ll see someone with lights on their clothes within the next ten years.

Whatever this is

Germany turned up with three-quarters of the props cupboard and decided to make it into a dress. Similar to the once-astoundingly dressed Lady Gaga, we learned that the general public, especially professional offices, chose not to turn up to work in a meat dress – It’s safe to say this bit of fashion ‘genius’ will follow the same trend.
