A Sauvage Charging Trousers

chargingThese trousers will ensure your smartphone never runs out of juice. For the modern man, there’s already a lot of contemporary detritus vying (and ruining) your precious pocket space, what with the business Blackberry, iPhone, wallet, keys, travel pass and change to fit in. So what about throwing in a phone charger too? Well, at Adrien Sauvage’s London Collections: Men show, that’s just what the 31-year-old designer has done and, in doing so, has taken wearable tech into a more tailored direction (with the help of erstwhile business partner George Lamb).

Moving away from the function-over-form and sportswear-orientated products that traditionally dominate the wearable tech sector, British fashion designer, Sauvage has incorporated a Nokia DC-50 charging plate for Lumia smartphones into the seam of the trousers which uses a process known as inductive charging. This is when an electromagnetic field is able to transfer electricity between two objects, and a coil fitted inside the phone transfers this electricity to the battery. In short, Sauvage’s self-professed manifesto to “dress easy” has never borne more truth.

The inductive charging makes it possible to keep the battery full whenever the user goes—Lumia smartphone owners are no longer tied to the charging spot. The black chino trousers look traditional—the only thing that makes them special is a pocket that features the charging plate. So, once the wearer puts the phone inside the pocket, the device starts charging.

These smart trousers are the perfect way to keep your battery full and yourself in style.

Known for creating under-stated luxury with a no-nonsense approach to contemporary tailoring, A. Sauvage’s collaboration focuses on the ‘Modern Man’ of 2014, making it the perfect collection for wearable technology.

The charging chinos are not just another concept product released by the designer to play with the latest trends—the piece is released as part of the fashion house’s spring/summer Modern Man collection. It will be available to purchase through Amazon in the coming months, still the pricing hasn’t been revealed yet.

We have a proud history of working within fashion, having previously collaborated with Bruce Weber and David Bailey, as well as recent partnerships at New York and London Fashion Week,” commented Adam Johnson, Marketing Director for Microsoft Mobile (UK and Ireland). “Continuing this theme, we are excited to work alongside a talented designer such as A. Sauvage. As well as having the vision to co-create these amazing wireless charging trousers, his style complements the cutting-edge design of the new Lumia 930 smartphone perfectly.”

Available from late July, exclusively from Amazon.co.uk
