Struggling to find the perfect restaurant experience that’s enticing to the eye and has your taste buds begging for more? Look no further, Texture is the place to be.
Established in 2007, Texture has been a success story from virtually day one, making expansion to a second restaurant, 28-50, possible. During 2010, as well as opening the new restaurant, Texture was awarded a prestigious Michelin star for its cuisine and wine.
‘At Texture, we seek to emphasise the wonderful aspects of our local nature. Our mission is to create meals that involve all of our senses while encouraging our guests to explore different textures of food and wines – at the centre of the dining experience.’
The restaurant is located within a charming restored Georgian building on Portman Square in Mayfair, just a few minutes from Oxford Street. The high-ceilinged main dining room seats 50 guests, so reservations are highly recommended. Additionally, the restaurant provides a private dining room for smaller parties seeking a more intimate atmosphere.
Chef patron of the restaurant is Agnar Sverrisson, a talented man from Iceland with a growing reputation; first working at Gordon Ramsay’s Petrus in London, before becoming Head Chef at Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons. From there, natural progression would lead him to open his own restaurant with his preferred style – That’s where the eclectic Texture menu comes from.
The cuisine combines Modern-European with Scandinavian and Icelandic influences, returning to Sverrisson roots while embracing British local and seasonal produce; the perfect combination to showcase his renowned, native cuisine to the British people. So, what’s on the menu?
The restaurant offers both a tasting and a-la-carte menu. For a first visit, we suggest trying the tasting menu, which the chef will pick for you. There are three options available: tasting (£85), fish tasting (£85), and vegetarian tasting (£79). The lunch tasting menu (£62) is also available from Wednesday to Saturday, a particularly popular choice for business meetings. The complementing wines are also carefully selected, with nothing being left to chance.
The a-la-carte menu features a few highlights, including the ‘Icelandic lightly salted cod’ and ‘Lancaster heritage beetroots’, with the latter suiting someone after the zesty option. As for
dessert, this is where it’s time to splurge; the baby Brogdale pear was a personal favourite, which is poached and served alongside chocolate cake, caramel and cardamom ice cream. Regardless of your choice, you won’t be disappointed by the chic and artful presentation that characterises every item on the menu.
Let’s not forget the acclaimed Champagne Bar that accompanies the restaurant, which offers a selection of over 140 champagnes by the bottle, and an exclusive selection of champagne-based cocktails. Sublime, isn’t it?
