High up on the 7th floor with captivating views over London’s spectacular skyline, Babylon prides itself as being more than just a restaurant but an experience.
One hundred feet above Kensington high street lurks 1.5 acres of impressive, beautiful roof gardens, complete with four flamingos and an air fleet of resident ducks. The setting is awe-inspiring, offering diners a unique, one-off experience. Established in the 1930’s, Sir Richard Branson has owned it since 1981 and has run an exclusive members club for several years.
The long and narrow room commences with a lovely bar area for you to enjoy some signature cocktails. The staff at Babylon have invested time into experimenting and understanding what changes a drink from being special, to being unforgettable. This means no cocktail is too unusual, whether the drink involves flames, foams, or exotic fruits from far off lands, you’re sure to be given something like nothing you’ve ever had before.
As you make your way into the chic dining room with modern yet cosy decoration, the staff are there to wait on your ever y need. The menu offers a great deal of choice, while the resulting dishes are delicious, using fresh and good quality ingredients served with great presentation. The award winning food at Babylon is best described as contemporary British cuisine. The menus change regularly to ensure that only the freshest, seasonal ingredients are used.
Enjoy a three course evening meal for two to include a starter, main course, dessert, petit fours and coffee, then it’s exclusive access into the Roof Gardens private members club for a fantastic night out.
Of particular note is the starter of sautéed scallops with pickled shiitake mushrooms and edamame beans. For mains, try the commendable roast chicken breast with white-onion cream, violet potatoes and truffle dressing, before signing off with almond cake and banana ice cream.
Look out for great special offers on brunch and 3-course meals too, and keep an eye on the calendar for live jazz as well. On Tuesday evenings the restaurant hosts unique live music performances, while at the weekends, the restaurant turns into a nightclub with a resident DJ downstairs.
In winter, a fire and cosy booths make Babylon a soothing spot, but it is at its best on the hottest summer nights, when you can eat under the stars in a gorgeous garden a hundred feet above the capital enjoying breath-taking views before boogying the night away.
Great views over London, with good food, friendly staff and a small but well selected wine list.
