Lego Knocks Nintendo off the 100 Best Global Brands

Logo, Interbrand - LondonInterbrand has released its annual ‘Best Global Brands’ list and this year, Lego™ has appeared as a new entrant, booting off more seasoned brands of the top 100 like Nintendo™ and
Pizza Hut™.

The Lego Movie pushed revenue for the first six months of 2014 to more than $2 billion. This enormous success, combined with hefty licencing deals with Frozen, Jurassic World and Star Wars, places Lego as 82nd in Interbrand’s 2015 report, making it the highest new entrant this year. Disney™ is still holding a considerably higher position than Lego, placed as number 13.

It comes as no surprise that Apple™ has maintained first position for its third consecutive year, especially given the releases of the new generation of iPhones, as well as the Apple Watch. Facebook™ has moved up the list, but still just misses the top 20 (ranked at 23). Technology and automotive brands hold many of the spots in this year’s ‘Best Global Brands’, as to be expected.
