Sushisamba

SushiSamba LogoIn the financial heart of a sophisticated city lies a restaurant which delivers a unique blend of Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian culture and cuisine to the city of London.

Sushiamba is situated in the tallest building in the city, Heron Tower. You enter via a glass lift which whisks you up to your destination; the top two floors, where you can practically browse workers’ emails in the Gherkin.

The venue has the highest outdoor terraces in London, offering unparalleled, 360 degree views of the city, taking drinking and dining in the capital to new heights.

The interior is cosy yet modern with bright red furniture and a magnificent bamboo-lattice ceiling with a grid of lights hanging at various heights to create a magical, Christmassy dining experience.

Sushisamba’s menus offer an inventive culmination of three cuisines which is influenced by social history. Japanese immigration into Brazil and Peru and the fusion of cultures is what informs Sushisamba’s food offering.

Guests will be treated to Brazilian churrasco and moqueca, Peruvian anticuchos and seviches; and Japanese tempura and sushi. The open kitchen and fiery robata grill offer brilliantly roasted and flavoured meats, vegetables and fish that capture the culinary prowess. Sushisamba conceptual small – plate style of service encourages shared dining experience.

Main courses — or, as they put it, large plates — range between £8 and £42. The £42 large plate is five meats — grilled hanger steak, rib eye, pork tenderloin, chorizo and linguiça (smoked, spiced pork sausage) served with chimichurri and best for sharing. If you wanted plantain or Peruvian corn to go with it, that would be an extra £5 plus 15 per cent service.

There are vegan and gluten free menus available as well- all first class and delicious. Everything served is light, fresh and beautifully presented.

Furthermore, Sushisamba offers a vast selection of freshly muddled signature cocktails as well as an extensive wine and sake list, so you can kick back and enjoy the scenery in serenity.

The service is swift and friendly with both the waiters and bar staff being incredibly knowledgeable and helpful.

This place is claimed as being one of the world’s most spectacular dining locations and it doesn’t disappoint. Despite variable cooking quality and punchy prices, this is a restaurant that all Londoners should experience at least once – especially for a table on the terrace.
