When you first think of a pub on the high street, your mind doesn’t tend wander to a picturesque black and white medieval-English style building, coupled with a prominent horse statue perched above the front door; that’s exactly what The Spotted Horse is.
The pub is a grand 250 years old with refurbished interior, which thankfully doesn’t spoil the beautiful building, if anything, it only adds to its charm and character.
The staff seem to absolutely love their jobs, with their friendly attitude radiating around the surprisingly large pub, creating a relaxing yet vibrant environment. With plenty of places to sit, artwork on the walls, books and board-games to delve into, your perfect comfort levels will be matched and hours will begin to fly by.
Beside the vast selection of drinks, the food menu is very impressive considering it’s a pub; expect a full table service that betters some restaurants. Food is cooked to order, so while you’ll be waiting longer than you would at a typical pub chain, it’ll certainly be worth your time.
Food is served from 10am-10pm Monday to Saturday, 12-9pm on Sunday, with brunch available every day until 5pm. The menu features classics such as steak and ale pie and battered haddock and chips, with sharable plates Ploughmans Platter or the Baked Whole Camembert waiting to be devoured. The generous food portions mean you’ll want a good sit down (or sleep) before you reluctantly leave this gem of a pub.
